Let's Talk Evening Rituals

How do you wind down? What rituals are important to you at night?

I have a few that are crucial. For starters - the post-dinner walk. No matter the temperature, I lace up my shoes and head outside with my husband and my dog. I need this time. I don't know if it's the outdoor aspect or simply the fact that it provides a break from the stresses of the day, but my evening walk is essential. (As is my morning walk, but that's for another post). I'm also a firm believer that walking after dinner aids in digestion.

Another evening ritual that I love is applying a face mask. I'm normally pretty busy so this ritual is definitely a rarity, but when I have time for it, it's fantastic. I try to apply masks that take at least 30 to 45 minutes to dry. Anything shorter, and the whole process just feels rushed. And when you are rushing, you can kiss relaxation goodbye. I've found lately that a shorter skin care routine really works for me (3 steps in the morning, 3 at night - again, another post!), but I still adore carving time out for a mask.

Of course, there is always room for improvement. Where to start? Rather than perusing my phone right before I shut my eyes, I would love to spend that time meditating. Additionally, while the Kindle app on my phone is convenient, I much prefer curling up with a "real" book before bed. Again, this is also much more conducive to sleep as well.

What are some of your evening rituals? Let me know!
