Summer Beauty Woes – Part One: Dry Hair (2017 Update)

by Megan Schwarz | June 09, 2015 | 0 Comments

It's post-Memorial Day and the weather is officially warming up SO I think we can confidently welcome summer! Long, hot, sunny, gorgeous days are upon us! I for one am incredibly excited. But with the warmer weather comes some unfortunate beauty woes. First up, dry locks. Is there anything worse? Sun, wind, and salt can turn even the glossiest mane into a straw-like, frizzy mess.

But the solution is simple – high quality, virgin coconut oil! Warm a bit in the microwave, apply to dry hair from root to tip, leave on for as long as you like, and then shampoo! (I am a fan of wrapping my hair in a towel while I’m letting the coconut oil work its magic.) Many people find that they do not need to condition, but I’m kind of a moisture maniac.

Top Picks:

If you are pressed for time and a hair mask is out of the question, apply a few drops of oil to damp ends after you shower. This will help to cut down on frizz, while conditioning and softening dry hair. Word of caution – do not go overboard. A few drops will work wonders (and a few more will leave you looking like an oily mess!)

Top Picks:

Sayonara sad strands, hello luscious locks!
