The Perfect Pair: Eye Serums & Creams

Admittedly, up until very recently I wasn't a huge eye serum/cream/balm devotee. I've never met a product that was a match for my dark under eye area. Lucky for me (I guess) that was really my only issue. And then the puffiness and dryness set in. That's when I gave all of those eye goodies I had piling up a second look. Slow and steady I actually began incorporating them into my routine and lo and behold, the dryness disappeared and the puffiness subsided. So it turns out, these products actually do something! Consider me a convert. And I discovered something even more fantastic during the trialling process – layering an eye cream or eye balm over an eye serum. This was my basic practice for the rest of my skin so I thought why not spoil my eye area with the same love! Yes, it’s a little indulgent, but it’s also really effective at targeting the many issues that seem to keep accumulating as we age (see above).

The Perfect Pairs

Laurel Eye Serum + Laurel Eye Balm
The Laurel Eye Serum and Balm are like two magical peas in a pod. They contain a similar herbal infusion of bilberry, fennel, licorice, and nettle to brighten and de-puff. More importantly, the soft, silky texture of the eye balm glides gorgeously over the eye serum. Do you need to use both at the same time? Probably not. But boy does it feel luxurious!

Odacité Ba+S Serum Concentrate + Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin E Eye Balm
The Odacité serum features an amazing roster of essential oils, including sarsaparilla, lavender, neroli, and palmarosa to combat wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles and the Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin E Eye Balm contains organic shea butter, pomegranate, and sea kelp to smooth, firm, and hydrate. Layer these and consider your bases covered!

Soul Sunday Bougie Facial Oil + African Botanics Resurrection Eye Cream
This is a truly knockout combo and definitely one of my favorite indulgences. Bougie glides effortlessly under eyes and skin just seems to drink in its nourishment and Resurrection Eye Cream relies on Resurrection Plant, Green Rooibos Tea extract, and Tetra-Peptides to noticeably reduce the appearance of wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness. These two stunners will definitely pamper your delicate under eye area. (If you want to up the fanciness factor, sub in MUN Brightening Youth Serum for Bougie. Prickly Pear does a number on dark circles!)

Black Chicken ICU Intensive Care Eye Serum + The Little Alchemist Anti Aging Eye Complex
I can’t get over how utterly silky ICU feels. And if you love the scent of cucumber, you will be in absolute heaven. Combine this with the lightweight, anti-aging wonder that is The Little Alchemist Eye Complex (think peptides, collagen, and rice proteins) and you’ve found yourself the perfect pair!

The above combinations are winners for me. And I'm now happily willing to admit that eye serums and balms are an investment in the long-term!
