Know Your Moisturizer: Balanced/Dry

by Megan Schwarz | April 21, 2015 | 0 Comments

Now that we’ve thoroughly discussed moisturizers for oily, combination, and acne prone skin types, let’s dive into those crafted for balanced and dry skin types. (I prefer the term balanced over normal because, well, what exactly is a normal skin type?) We all understand the importance of adequately hydrating dry skin, but even those with happy, well-moisturized skin need a little something to keep their skin that way!

Let’s discuss a few favorites:

Balanced
Therapi Orange Blossom Honey Moisturizer – This lush, perfectly textured cream combines heavenly honey, soothing calendula, and vitamin-rich sea buckthorn oil to smooth, soften, and nourish. Best of all, it’s delicately scented with ultra-gorgeous neroli, sweet orange, bergamot, and jasmine. This cream is the perfect option for skin that is craving just a touch of moisture!

Balanced / Dry
Jacqueline Evans Argan & Rosehip Moisturizing Cream – Think of this moisturizer as velvety skin food. Your skin will just drink it up. Combining argan oil, rosehip oil, calendula, and essential oils of sandalwood, lavender, and palmarosa, this cream smells as good as it feels. The rich texture melts easily into skin making this moisturizer a wonderful option for both day and night!

Balanced / Dry / Aging
The Little Alchemist Anti-Aging Defense Complex – This lightweight cream is rich in peptides, botanicals, antioxidants, and vitamins that smooth out fine lines, revitalize, firm, and tone. Yes, this cream is somewhat of an over-achiever. Because the texture of this moisturizer falls somewhere between a lotion and a cream, I highly recommend it for balanced skin types and those veering slightly towards dry. (If you fall 100% into the dry skin camp, then you may need to layer this cream over an oil or serum.)

Balanced / Dry / Sensitive
AS.AP Face Cream #3 – This soft, cushy moisturizer will leave your skin looking radiant! It marries skin-soothing olive oil with essential oils of rose, cedarwood, myrrh, frankincense, orange, and benzoin. The result is an earthy, sultry cream that reduces redness, promotes tissue repair, and improves elasticity. Massage this delicate cream onto skin both day and night!

Dry
Therapi Rose Otto Honey Moisturizer – Skin starting to look a little dry and dull? Shea butter to the rescue! This moisturizer contains hydrating honey, rejuvenating rosehip oil, and healing shea butter to soften and nourish fussy, dry skin. And the combination of lively rose geranium and earthy sandalwood is an unexpected delight. This moisturizer is definitely a treat!

Tune in next week when we’ll explore moisturizers for ultra dry skin!
