Coming Up Roses

Gushing about roses in February? Shocking right? Well maybe. Let’s look beyond the superficial aspects of a rose and discuss the beautiful oil that lies within. Read on…

It wasn't until very recently that I came to truly appreciate roses. Growing up, I thought of roses as cliché and yearned for something more unique. And then I began researching rose essential oil and its numerous benefits. Suddenly, I had a newfound respect for the flower. Why? Because unlike most essential oils, rose essential oil is perfect for all skin types. It treats and heals dry skin, cools and soothes inflamed skin, and banishes bacteria plaguing acne prone skin. Even more impressive - rose essential oil reduces redness, scarring, and broken capillaries making it perfect for those prone to hyperpigmentation. But the rose's benefits don't stop with the skin. Rose essential oil is commonly used in aromatherapy for its ability to reduce stress and relieve anxiety. Hence the reason I now bow down to the power of the rose.

What's more, rose essential oil is one of the priciest essential oils - it takes tens of thousands of rose blossoms to yield a single ounce. For this reason, rose essential oil is truly a luxury. So the next time you see this beauty in your oils and creams, try to stop scorning at the price and appreciate the sheer amount of beautiful blossoms that went into creating it.

Now, let’s talk specifics:

de Mamiel Rosey Lip Balm – This gorgeous blend of oils and butters softens and plumps even the driest lips. And the combination of rose otto, rose geranium, and rose wax leaves behind a beautifully delicate, sweet scent.

LILFOX Maracuja & Rose Youthful Vixen Face Nectar – If you are a lover of roses, this serum will change your life. Not only does it smell exquisite, it combines some of the most glow-inducing oils on the planet – maracuja and argan. Like I said, it’s a game changer.

Jacqueline Evans Damask Rose Hydrating Mist – This gorgeous combination of aloe and rose will have you misting liberally and often. It instantly quenches parched complexions and leaves behind a dewy glow. Glow in a bottle? Where do I sign up?

R.L. Linden Thousand Petal Beautifying Oil – Toss that sickly sweet, old fashioned rose-scented body oil and replace it with this magical creation. The bright and inviting scent instantly enchants and uplifts. Sexy, subtle, and a little sensual – this is pure romance.

Kjaer Weis Mascara – A rose-scented mascara that lengthens and adds the perfect amount of volume to lashes? Yes, it does exist. And it also resists flaking. Your makeup bag will never be the same.
